Twelve by Twelve
A world premiere - this collaborative art quilt project is a captivating concept, played out online by quilters who mostly have only met online. In twelve themed challenges, twelve quilters have produced a twelve inch square quilt. Each set of twelve quilts fits together in a mosaic; resulting in twelve mosaics from 144 quilts in total. Themes include chocolate, shelter, community, mathematics... and finally twelve! The quilters are from Australia, Belgium, the UK and the USA, and include our own Brenda Gael Smith and Kirsten Duncan. To view the website and read more about this fascinating exhibition click here.
Twelve By Twelve: Floor Talks
Brenda Gael Smith and Kirsten Duncan will conduct floortalks at the Twelve exhibition area at 10.30am and 2pm daily.

Textile Tantrums
Dale Rollerson of The Thread Studio challenged textile artists to throw some textile tantrums. They responded with bad behaviour exhibiting work featuring holes, tears, rips, sharp objects, frayed edges and not a seam finish in sight. Sponsored by The Thread Studio.

Elements – The Darling Downs Textile Art Group
Members since 1999 from various backgrounds, meet once a month to critique their work, showcase their latest pieces and share ideas, samples of fabric, threads, books and buttons which are found overseas, locally or are handmade. This exhibition evolved from a challenge issued last year to make a triptych; three small pieces, all the same size, based on one of the four elements of earth, water, fire or air.

Dairing to be Different
Visit this inspiring display by Melbourne company Dairing. Designer Teresa Dair creates garments, jewellery and accessories – knitting with a difference. Teresa’s process of creating each piece begins with the hunt for the right colours and textures. She prefers not to work with a normal pattern as this constrains the development of the garment or accessory and ultimately the final result.
Stitch ‘n’ Bitch
New Zealand fashion designer Annah Stretton presents her Stitch ‘n’ Bitch concept – a range of versatile garments in kit form. These gorgeous pieces are ready to stitch into garments which can be worn in multiple ways.
