Fabulous Felt Flowers
with Wendy Bailye

Experience the joy of making your own felt flowers. In this class you will learn to make a flat piece of handmade felt and learn techniques to make a variety of flowers using silk fabric and fibres and wool tops.
Many different styles of flowers will be made including ‘nuno’ felted silk flowers and prefelted flowers. The flowers can be used to make brooches, jewellery, collars, hair accessories – adorn homewares, artworks and garments. … Click for details.

Play, Paint and Print

Learn and play while creating colourful unique prints and patterns (called monoprinting) on cotton, rayon and silk fabrics. Using individual printing plates (plastic, foam and vinyl) students will play with making simple marks in a range of thickened dyes and paints, applied to the plate surface. These marks are then printed onto the fabric. Fabrics created using this technique will be suitable for inclusion in art projects (quilts, embroidery), for use in interior design items or inclusion in clothing. … Click for details.

Möbius Knitting

Try möbius knitting – it’s quite magical! Invisible cast-on and knit in one piece with no seams but create versatile and flexible garments which will stretch in all directions – you have to try this!
Students will learn the skills and techniques involved in knitting a Möbius Strip and a Möbius Wrap. They will learn how to:
o    Cast on a Möbius.
o    Design a Möbius Wrap of a variety of sizes and lengths
o    Develop an understanding of the principles involved in Möbius Wrap knitting
o    Cast off using loose cast off techniques
Students will complete a sampler that incorporates all the principles of Möbius Wrap knitting, and they will commence a full sized Möbius to be completed later. … Click for details.


Funky Simple Tops

This is a project driven class, participants will go home with a unique top that fits their body measurements. We will spend the morning drafting a very simple top pattern without any complicated calculation! Learn easy ways to alter, embellish and stylise your new garment. Participants will then construct the top in fabric, taking home a finished item. Combine this with the simple skirt class and have a complete outfit! This is Fashion Design 101!

Wonderful World of Weaving

Discover how easy it is to create unique fabrics through weaving fibre, yarns and fabric.  Looms will be provided and you will make two to three unique fabrics using different weights and fibre content. Finished pieces can be then be stitched into quilts, bags or garments or mounted and framed. You will learn how to thread the loom as well as weaving and finishing techniques.
A kit including sufficient yarns and fabric to create the three class samples is available. Looms will be supplied free of charge for use in class and can be purchased cheaply after class if desired. Kits include yarns from Louet and Rainbow Wools. … Click for details.

Fun, Fancy, Folded Art Bag

The bag is quick and simple yet so fancy and individual it will certainly be admired by all. Add your own individual techniques and you will have an “art bag” of exhibition standard. Free motion embroidery techniques will be used throughout this workshop.
The bag starts off flat and takes on a mind all of its own when stitched, folded and formed. Cords, beads and dingle dangly bits will be added to create dimension and texture. Carol will also show just how easy it is to vary the basic design format.
