Three Dimensional Flower Cushion
with Wendy Bailye from 'The Felt Studio'
Time: 9.30am to 12.30pm
Fee: $115
Learn to make a felted cushion cover using a template and decorate the cushion with a gorgeous 3D flower of your own design. Kit includes 18 micron pre-felt, assorted wool and silk tops and assorted threads plus use of all felting equipment, (does NOT include cushion insert).
Students bring: sharp scissors, one old bath towel, two old plastic grocery bags.

Reversible Loop Bag with Sashiko Dragonfly
with Jane MacDonald, BeBe Bold – Contemporary Japanese Textiles

Join Jane to make her Reversible Sashiko Loop Bag. You will learn sashiko stitching and a neat method of bag assembly whilst constructing this useful, hands-free bag. Basic sewing skills are required.
Fee includes a kit containing: All fabric including sashiko cloth, interfacing, sashiko thread, sashiko needles, Chaco paper, instructions and pattern.
Students are to bring: rotary cutter, ruler and mat, fabric scissors and dressmakers pins.

Fragment Fabric Collage
with Lesley Riley for Unique Stitching
Time: 9.30am to 12.30pm
Fee: $55
A class for anyone who loves fabric, collage or colour. Using a variety of fabrics (your own and the class stash), and a bit of paper too, we will combine colour and texture, motif and scale to create mood, memories and magic. Lesley will show you how to transfer words and image onto fabric using TAP (Transfer Art Paper).
Fee includes pre-printed TAP images and quotes for transfer.
Students bring: a selection of coordinating fabrics in your current favourite colours to use in your collage. Try for a variety of textures and patterns. Small, colour coordinated amounts will do – quarter to half metre pieces.
Additionally, bring a bag (3.5 litre ziplock size) of scraps and snippets in contrasting colours.
Also bring: scissors for fabric and paper, pins, fusible web (Wonder Under or similar).
Optional: Embellishments: Buttons, charms, ribbons, paper ephemera, decorative papers. Some fabric and embellishment bags will be available for purchase from Unique Stitching. Please indicate if you want one of these when booking the class.

Paintbox Pizzazz 1: Painted fabrics
with Julie Haddrick
Time: 1pm to 4pm
Fee: $80
Introduction to painting with fabric paints using a primary colour palette. You will learn about mixing colours using the colour wheel and explore paint application onto sample size fabric pieces to create different effects like colour blending, tonal gradation, and wash techniques. Under Julie's expert guidance, students will explore the hand painting of unique fabrics suitable for textile art, quilting, collage, dolls or embroidery using fabric paints. We will create graduated backgrounds, landscapes, sunsets, water, gardens etc. Join one class with Julie or do all three as they form a series.
Fee includes: set of 5 primary colour fabric paints and printed notes
Students bring:
- 2 metres quality washed white 100% cotton fabric (or PFD) cut into A4 and A3 pieces; each named with permanent pen.
- 2 x A4 white and black print fabric, e.g. spot, stripe.
- Spray bottle for water
- Landscape / sky/ sunset photos
- White plastic paint palette (6-well)
- Water pot eg (yoghurt tub)
- Apron, rag, newspaper
- Some art paintbrushes, eg Small size 4, pointed nose 8, large flat size 10, 12
- 1.5 - 2 inch wide flat pastry brushes or foam brushes
- Plastic tablecloth to dry work on
- 2 x A3 sturdy white plastic mat to paint on e.g. thick plastic tablemats from discount stores.

Sheer Delight: Stitch & Colour Silk Organza

Silk organza has several unique properties: it's sheer, it's stiff and it takes dye beautifully. This sheer quality allows for layering, a creative way to build colour and pattern, and with great dyeing possibilities.
In Sheer Delight: Stitch & Colour students will experiment with creating pattern and colour using hand and machine (including smocking) stitching, folding and clamping techniques, adding colour with reactive dye. This simple combination of processes will create a range of patterned silk organza…..a sheer delight.
Fee covers all dyes and chemicals used; use of all equipment required for the dyeing and resist processes, use of a smocking and sewing machine, extensive class notes, plus kit of fabrics.
Class requirements
Students must bring: Sewing accessories: needles, polyester thread, dressmakers and safety pins, large and small fabric scissors.
Bring suitable resists if you have them, for hot water dyeing: wooden boards, small clamps, wooden pegs, cords and string, glass beads, stones, (no poles).
Good quality rubber gloves (not disposables), apron, old towel, Chux wipes, plastic bucket (9-10 litre), 2 plastic ice cream containers, 15 small-medium Zip-lock bags, several plastic grocery bags, medium black permanent marker, masking tape, notebook and pen, pencil.
Wear suitable shoes in case the floor gets wet.
Class Kit includes: 10 assorted silk organza fabrics (white, coloured or pre-dyed), cut as 8 pieces approx 35cm square and 2 strips 20cm x 115cm.
