SHEER INDULGENCE: Stitch, Shape & Colour Silk Organza
with Sharyn Hall
Time: 9.30am – 12.30pm
Fee: $95
Silk organza has several unique properties: it's sheer, it's stiff and it takes dye beautifully. The sheer quality allows for layering, resist dyeing techniques add colour and pattern, and combined with its unique stiffness, wonderful texture and dimension (shape) can be created.
In Sheer Indulgence: Stitch, Shape & Colour students will experiment with manipulating the organza fabric before dyeing, using hand and machine stitching (including pleating), tying and binding techniques. Add colour with reactive and acid dyes. Heat creates the change in dimension, and used in combination with manipulation, will create beautiful coloured, patterned and shaped silk organza, its stiffness assisting in creating texture. There are so many ways to manipulate fabric - adding the colour and pattern is just sheer indulgence, so come and indulge yourself.
